In yet another shocking claim, Prince Harry is accusing the Royal Family of ‘total neglect’ and ‘total silence’ despite continual pleas for help.
Prince Harry discussed the death of his mother, Princess Diana, with talk show host Oprah Winfrey for his new mental health streaming service. Remembering the day of her funeral, Harry recalls the sounds of “horses’ hooves on the mall”. He goes to to explain how damaging it was to have to display “just a tenth of the emotion everybody else was” when they didn’t personally know his mum.
During a documentary for Apple TV +, The Me You Cant See, Harry tells us that he was expected to “deal with the resulting press attention and mental distress” of his mothers death. Prince Charles used to shrug off any issues by saying “well thats what it was like for me so its going to be like that for you”.
Harry disagrees with his fathers method of parenting. In the documentary he claims that Charles should do everything he could “to make sure whatever negative experiences you had, you can make it right for your kids”. In a Podcast aired last week, Harry said he is “breaking the cycle of pain of his upbringing” for his son Archie and unborn daughter.
To mask his emotions, Harry abused drink and drugs at the weekends to “feel less like he was feeling”. Harry revealed he would drink a weeks worth of alcohol over the weekend.
The clicking of cameras still makes his blood boil, although the panic attacks he has are under control now. He still holds anger as “no justice came” to the people who “chased her into a tunnel and photographed her dying on the backseat”.
Prince Harry and Meghan’s unheard cries for help
Following 10 years in the army, which Harry claims was the happiest of his life as he received no “special treatment”, he met wife Meghan on a blind date. However, the relationship has been far from plain sailing.
Harry reveals that, following an argument with Meghan, he is now in therapy. He knew, if he didn’t, he would “lose the woman who I see myself spending the rest of my life with”.
Waking up one night to the sound of Meghan sobbing into a pillow “so she didn’t wake him” he knew he had to do something. “I held her. We talked. She cried. It was heartbreaking”
Harry stands by claims that he and Meghan spent four years trying to stay within the roles they had. With the attacks in the media, and on social media, built up Harry turned to the family for help. However, “every single ask,request, warning, whatever it is, just got met with total silence or total regret”.
The couple famously moved to the US, following claims of racism and neglect. When Oprah asked if Harry regrets the move, he said no. “I’m now more comfortable in my skin. I have learned more about myself in the last four years, then the 32 before it”.
