His Royal Highness Prince William has received his first dose of the Covid 19 vaccination. Sharing an image on Twitter, he thanked all the staff working on the vaccine rollout.
Prince William became eligible for the jab this week, following the UK wide rollout to those in their thirties. There has not been confirmation on whether his wife, The Duchess of Cambridge, has had her first jab yet.
The second in line to the throne, Prince William contracted Coronavirus in April 2020. His father, Prince Charles, announced he had tested positive just weeks before in March. The Duke of Cambridge never publicly stated he had Covid 19, but he told a spectator he was sick with the virus but “didn’t want to worry anyone”.
Claiming “there were important things going on”, Prince William isolated at home in Anmar Hall in Norfolk. He recieved treatment from the family doctors and, luckily, was able to make a dull recovery.
Prince William joins the vaccinated members of the UK
Prince William joins 57.4 million others who have received the a Covid 19 vaccine. Out of the 57.4 million, 20.5m are now fully vaccinated as the UK vaccine rollout continues.
NHS England has stated that over a million people, aged 34 and 35, will be invited to get the first dose of the vaccine. This is the UK’s second rollout this week. The texts, which will be sent out between the 20th and 21st of May, will help those in their early thirties be vaccinated in the next few weeks.
Four members of the royal family, that we are aware of, have received their vaccination. The Queen, along with the late Prince Phillip, had their first dose in January in their home at Windsor Castle.
Prince Williams father Prince Charles and his wife Camilla have also had their first dose. They became eligible once those over 70 were urged to come forward. Prince Charles took over two months before his sense of taste and smell came back, a common side effect of Covid-19.
