Temptation to gather outdoors will be high amongst Brits as temperatures reach up to 24 degrees Celsius. Prime Minister Boris Johnson requests that members of the public remain mindful of Covid restrictions during the mini heatwave despite the relaxing of certain rules this week.
On Monday, people socialised across the country in groups of up to six or two households, and flocked to gardens, parks and outdoor spaces to make the most of the warmer weather.
Golf clubs and lidos also opened up and were able to welcome large numbers due to the high temperatures.
Central London areas recorded temperatures as high as 24 degrees Celsius, the hottest on record for this year so far in the UK. This heatwave trend is likely to continue throughout the rest of the week in the South of England.
Many people in the UK have not seen family members for weeks or even months.
Speaking on the ‘beautiful weather’, Mr Johnson commented that he hoped many would spend time outdoors participating in sports or exercise during the heatwave, and meanwhile must be taking extra care to abide by restrictions and rules.
Meteorologist Steven Keates stated that temperatures over 24 degrees will be the highest that Britain has seen in March in over 53 years.
