Nick Knowles can return to DIY SOS after advert conflict

Nick Knowles will appear on DIY SOS in 2022 following reports that a Shreddies TV advert had placed it under threat.

Nick Knowles is allowed to return to DIY SOS. Filming will resume in upcoming months, although we will not see it on our screens until 2022


Although he will resume filming later this month, he will not appear on TV screens until 2022. He is also unable to participate in Children in Need charity special due to the appearance in an advert. This is due to the advert campaign still running.

The DIY SOS host features in an advert for popular cereal Shreddies. In the advert, Nick helps a family in his capacity as a builder and describes himself as Nick “get it done” Knowles.

The Sun newspaper reports that the commercial deal threatens to violate corporation rules of the BBC. A joint statement, released by the BBC and Nick, states that the issue has since been resolved in relation to Nicks commercial agreement and BBC guidelines.

In a statement of his own, Nick describes the DIY show as “more than a presenting job”. The presenter claims the DIY show has become “part of me” and that working for the BBC is something he “will never take for granted”.

When questioned about his feelings surrounding not appearing in the charity special for BBC Children in Need, Nick said he will “be cheering from the sidelines” for the special guest presenter.

Nick urges viewers to focus on the builds significance to children’s lives, not on the presenter. He will be back on our screens in 2022. A public statement by the BBC calls Nick “an important member of the BBC family.”
