Wakanda Forever: Black Panther waxwork unveiled

The Avengers continue to assemble as the Black Panther joins Madame Tussauds Marvel heroes on display.

Madame Tussauds unveiled Black Panther tribute, alongside Captain Marvel and The Hulk

Joining The Hulk and Captain Marvel, the Black Panther stands proudly in a pose that has become a trademark of the King of Wakanda. Behind the King is a ‘Vibranium effect’ which lights up the Black Panthers costume.

The vibranium effect not only pays tribute to the metal mined in Wakanda but also the material the outfit is made of. For true Marvel fans, this vibranium is a different vibranium to that used in Captain America’s shield.

The waxwork figure was unveiled by Marvel fan, and Arsenal footballer, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. He is a huge fan of Black Panther, pulling the Wakanda Forever pose when he won against Liverpool in 2020.

When asked if he would be willing to unveil the figure, he could not say no, as “the panther is a huge part of our national team in Gabon.” Taking his wife and sons to the opening, Pierre-Emerick said he loved bringing his family to meet a hero of his.

Black Panther – a star in and out of the movies

Black Panther is one of Marvels most successful films. It is the only Avengers movie to get an Oscar nod, along with grossing over $1.3bn in the box office. A sequel to the movie is underway, although Marvel will not replace Chadwick Boseman. Instead there are bets that the Black Panthers sister Shuri, played by Letitia Wright, will take up the Black Panther mantle.

Lead star Chadwick Boseman bravely fought Colon Cancer before passing away August 2020. The announcement of his death, confirmed by his family on Instagram, came as a shock to fans. Films such as Black Panther, Da 5 Bloods and Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom were all filmed throughout his battle.

The stars death resulted in Fight Colorectal Cancer receiving over $10,000 in donations. It has also significantly raised social media awareness of the illness, with more people attending early screenings and looking into family history.

In a touching tribute on Sunday, Michael B Jordan, said “the legacy that he left behind, the impact that he made on so many people around the world, his family, he lives forever.”
