Police have dropped a complaint of blackmail relating to a range of photographs of sports star Wayne Rooney as they believe no offence has taken place.
On Monday, the ex England footballer reported a complaint to Cheshire Police about some pictures of him shared widely online. The images in question appeared to show Rooney asleep in a chair while women posed next to him.
Rooney, 35, was pictured fully clothed on a hotel chair after a boozy night out with male friends in Manchester. The 21 year old women seen surrounding him are Snapchat model Tayler Ryan and her two mates.
The trio met Rooney and his pals in Chinawhite nightclub, before accompanying the women to their hotel room. It is understood the ex England star quickly departed the Staycity complex after waking up.

He returned to the training ground on Monday morning as the photographs circulated the web. The Derby County manager informed his club that the photos, taken without his knowledge or approval, had emerged on social media.
Meanwhile, his wife Coleen is in Abersoch, North Wales, enjoying a holiday with their four sons, Kai, 11, Klay, eight, Kit, five, and Cass, three.
However, Rooney is clear that he did nothing wrong, and there is no suggestion that the football star misbehaved or acted inappropriately in any way. He fears he is the victim of a “set up”.
Representatives of the Derby County manager confirm an official complaint reported to the police, but his lawyers decline to comment. They are not saying anything with regards to the nature of the images.
Cheshire Police admit they received a blackmail complaint, but it is unsure whether the claim is linked to the girls Rooney was pictured with. The force reviewed the complaint, with officers saying they are satisfied that no offence took place. As far as they are concerned, the matter is dropped and no longer under investigation. And according them, the ex-Manchester United star does not wish to take things any further.
